C&W is a leading provider of high-value telecoms and Internet services to major UK companies and public institutions in Great Britain and Ireland. It offers a portfolio of data, voice, call centre and Internet services.
Teligence has been working with C&W over the past eleven years and currently has a team of provisioning and field engineers dedicated to C&W projects.
C&W planned to relocate all services provided at the BBC location in All Saints Green, Norwich, to their new studio site in Theatre Street, Norwich. As the principle contractor for C&W’s BBC Customer Project team, Teligence was chosen to provide installation, commissioning and integration services for this relocation.
All circuits needed to be tested and ready for service when the BBC decommissioned the existing site. Completing the studio move without any service disruption to the BBC’s communication network would be critical.
The proposed solution for the BBC studio relocation in Norwich was to duplicate the existing services to the new BBC Norwich site, as detailed below:
Installation of a new transmission link between the new Norwich BBC studio and the C&W connectivity site, utilising a new Nortel Line system (TN-16L’s) and STM-16 optics.
Procurement and delivery of miscellaneous materials required.
Installation of a new Nortel TN-1X, ATM switch (ASX200), VCU, and CellAce adaptor, for path 1 circuits at the new site.
BBC1 and BBC2 analogue circuits (path 1’s) to be installed, commissioned and tested.
Final integration of the equipment into the C&W network.
Teligence was able to provide the above services and assist the BBC in successfully migrating to a new facility on schedule and without any service interruption. In addition, the BBC was extremely impressed with the quality of work performed by Teligence and the dedication to completing the project in the short timeframe required. Teligence’s superior wiring and cabling standards were noted by the BBC, with feedback including:
